Contra Costa Adventure Boot Camp, which I did a session of a few months ago that really kicked me into getting into shape, is hosting free boot camp sessions during the Walnut Festival in WC. Here's the description from the email they sent me:

"Have you been wanting to give boot camp a try but not wanting to commit to 4 weeks without knowing what you are getting your self into? We understand.
Often to experience something new and worthwhile life requires a leap of faith - but not this time.
In celebration of the Walnut Festival we are offering free boot camp classes... in Walnut Creek.
All you need to do is come in athletic clothing and shoes and be prepared for sweat and smiles. We'll provide the rest.
Your class will last one hour long and may include short distance running, muscle strengthening, agility and obstacle courses, plyometrics, stretching and core exercises and more."
It will be challenging but fun! They ask that you RSVP at http://www.eventbee.com/guesttasks/eventrsvp.jsp?GROUPID=38805

See you then!

Hi girls, Kyoko here...with another opportunity to get your exercise out of the way early!!

We'll meet in the parking lot, which is off of Turtle Creek Road near Ayers. We can decide that morning how long we want our walk to be - hopefully we'll be feeling ambitious :)

As always, bring children, dogs, smiles, anything else you may need to keep your spirits up on an early morning walk! And if you are lost or late just give me a call at 415-350-0696.

See you there!

Hi girls, Kyoko here! I hope you are able to come take a walk with me on Tuesday morning! There are a few different loops and paths to take so we can decide how ambitious we want to be when we meet.

Quick note: If another day or a different time would work for you PLEASE speak up. I have a really flexible schedule so I am just guessing as to what you guys might prefer - hopefully I'm right on! Also please take a note about my cell phone number - 415-350-0696 and call if you're going to be late or not make it last minute.

I hope at least a few people will be able to make it - I think it's going to be great to have a couple of morning events during the week! Please feel free to bring kids and/or dogs - I may have one or both of my dogs with me that day.

We usually just meet in or right next to the parking lot, which is on Turtle Creek Road just off of Ayers Road. See you there!

I hope this isn't too late (both in notice and time), but anyone up for a late Sunday afternoon bike ride? I haven't really rode a bike since high school, which was, well, some time ago, so I really don't know the ins an outs, but I'd love to give it a shot.

I figure that the Iron Horse Trail may be wide enough to accomodate a few people, so let's give it a shot.

Helmets required, but nothing else fancy is! And please, if you are a cycling ace, please show up and give us some tips, or at least give us some online tips.

Also, I posted info on a City of Concord free bike event (not exclusive to Concord residents) on the group calendar for September 8, so check it out! http://fitness.meetup.com/403/calendar/

We'll meet at 4:30 PM at the parking lot on the left past the community center in the park.

As always, bring others, and you can reach me on my cell if you are running late or need directions: (925)-864-1622.

The northern part of the trail, where will be at, is flat, but it's a gradual uphill as you progress towards Moraga if someone wants to keep on!

Meet up at the first parking lot at at Olympic Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road in Lafayette at 6:45PM. There are two parking lots here, so find parking where you can and look for us, or give me a call if you can't find us.

This trail is shaded, which will be welcome as the heat wave will apparently be still in effect next week.

Shell Ridge is a cool place for rock nerds like me (Elizabeth), but everyone else I've taken there enjoys it as well. The trails are relatively flat (with one exception, but it's pretty minor and seems to be bad when it is muddy, which it clearly isn't in September), but depending on who shows up, we can take a hike up a significant hill to check out the views.

If dogs are your thing, this is an off-leash area for good dogs. That said, the last time we went there last year one of my dogs (the good one that goes off leash) had a tick on her and a fair number of foxtails, so sticking to the trail is also nice!

Directions: From Walnut Creek, take Ygnacio Valley Road east to Homestead Ave. Turn right and then at the first stop sign, left onto Marshall Drive. Go to the end of Marshall Drive and park on the street in front of Indian Valley School.

Let's attempt to beat the heat and meetup at 9AM. If folks want an earlier start, mention it.

Feel free to bring friends and family, as it is a holiday weekend.

Hope to see you then to burn off some calories before your Labor Day BBQs!

Join Natalia, Heather, and hopefully more great ladies for a Saturday morning stroll around Newhall Park in Concord.

The parking lot/meeting area is off of Turtle Creek Road in Concord. If you are coming from Treat, turn on TC Road and it's a little more than a mile and on your left. If you are coming from Ygnacio Valley Road, turn on Ayers (CSUEB is on the other side of the intersection), and then the second street on your left is Turtle Creek Road. The parking lot will be shortly on your right

Have fun!
