Although we don't always have great weather for outdoor life we live in a fabulous city with plenty of park space, not to mention a gorgeous beach. Getting fit need not mean a punishing regime - we are more about a game of rounders on the beach, a brisk walk or a gentle jog, or some circuit training in Princes Street Gardens. All levels of fitness ability welcome whether they are looking to lose weight and get involved in exercise for the first time, or wanting to get well and truly fit.
Thanks for looking at this group. Before you decide on joining, please read the following. We are not affiliated with Ramblers Yorkshire, as we are a separate walking group entirely. We do not allow more than 25 people to come on the walk, as we are generally more of a social group, than just a hike. We take sa …

You do not have to be super fit to join us, but we do try to offer something for everybody. Most walks are between 6 and 8 miles, sometimes longer. Most walks start about 11am.We will finish our walks in a pub for some social time. Most places serve Tea and Coffee's. We will also offer short trips away, using low cost tra …
The idea of starting this group came from seeing my nutrition clients struggling to break socialising habits which revolved around pubs. Where there is of course a place for socialising in pubs (I'm not a complete bore), the ideal scenario for getting healthy and enjoying it with friends is to take your socialising elsewhere. Whether that is a walk, a bike ride and a picnic or an hour of Zumba followed by lunch, it helps to have a group of friends to encourage each other. This group is for peop …

Age is a number not a limitation. I started this group because I wanted to share my recent experiences and actively engage people who are interested in walking and running and interested in improving their health and wellness. I call it a 80:20 group as whilst the emphasis is upon doing some exercise health and nutrition is essentially 20% exercise and 80% nutrition with a good smattering of a positive attitude. I believe in surrounding yourself with positive thinkers and the philosophy that it …

So you've bought your bike, taken it out of the garage, feel a bit self-conscious, don't know where to go, feel a bit nervous of traffic, looks like it's going to rain later anyway ...maybe next week. So how about joining a cycling club? Eh?!!! I'll never keep up with them! Those guys are fanatics! What would they think of me? I'll be ridiculed! Do I look like a cyclist? Do these legs say 'cyclist'? Maybe when I've had a bit ...a lot more practice. It doesn't have to be this way. There i …

Welcome! (Updated Tuesday 14th May 2013) Hello-ha! Greetings fellow East Lancashirians! Well, it is now a year since I thought, is anyone else thinking what I am thinking, that there seems little of any real substance to do around Blackburn-Darwen, unless your sole interest in clubbing? A year since I thought, does anyone else want to meet up for interesting conversations, whilst doing meaningful activities, and whilst building supportive local networks? So I (Jenny) have set up an informal soc …

Is it safe to come out yet. The hope of this group is to create a safe & gentle space so that we can begin to awaken again. In childhood we close down so much of our selves to survive & fit in & this group is about creating the space where we can begin to refind the glory & wonder of all that we truly are. This does not require us to do therapy or talk about our childhood stories: it simply requires safety, trust, understanding & a inner knowing & longing to be our loving self. In this space & w …
